Energy Efficiency Ratio - Energy efficiency rating for air
conditioners. The higher the SEER the better the energy performance.
The department of Energy's minimum SEER rating for air conditioners
is 13.
The
installation of R410 Refrigerant air conditioners varies somewhat
depending on particular application. We recommend that only
qualified technicians attempt to service R410 refrigerant units
because of high pressure in piping while operating.
New
Installation: We recommend R410 air conditioners for new home
construction because of the long term application. Using R410 units
assures equipment compatibility for years to come. The improved
performance of this refrigerant also offers higher efficiency
ratings resulting in lower operating costs and extended service
life.
Replacement: When replacing and existing system with an R410 air
conditioner the entire system will need to be replaced. (outdoor
unit, indoor coil on furnace and piping between the two units)
Existing components which have R22 refrigerant are not compatible
with R410. An existing furnace will function with R410 air
conditioner since the inside coil will fit on most existing
applications.
Service: (Warning) R410 refrigerant systems operate at much
higher pressures than R22 systems and we recommend that only
qualified technicians service these units.
